HANNAH STEVENSON’S SOLO EXHIBIT OPENS AT DESIGN DMU’S LIFESTYLE STUDIO
Design DMU & Galerie Junger Shanghai proudly hosted the opening night of British artist Hannah Stevenson Solo Exhibition in their studio on September 19, 2014. Many industry friends and colleagues attended the event and were delighted to see the exhibition and DMU’s lifestyle studio. It was a successful evening. The invitation-only vernissage of “Silk Road and Beyond” showcased vibrant mixed media pieces. Stevenson’s influences of living and traveling destinations were captured through her use of hand-cut collage, unique carved pigment print and thin layers of lacquer. The Design DMU collaboration with Galerie Junger is perhaps the first of its kind in China, integrating a Design Studio with an Art Gallery. Allowing for special showcases and events, the lifestyle Studio also includes an atelier space where a rotating schedule of artist in-residence creates artworks for exhibitions and project commissions. The “live” showcase of their art styles and techniques is unique and an exhibit of its own. This working studio provides a day-to-day sanctuary for creative innovation, a space that organically unites leading practitioners in the complementary fields of design, art and more, all under one roof.
